An Angel Sleeps  

An Angel slept upon my chair,
With streaks of silver in her hair,
A smile of peace upon her face,
Even now she shows her grace.

My Angel loved me every day,
She loves me now from far away,
For now my seat holds no-one there,
But I know for me she still does care.

Around me I see my memories,
Arrayed like gifts that no-one sees,
But with each shadow cast on the floor,
I know my Angel loves me more.

Upon the pillow where she slept,
A love we have that my heart kept,
For my Angel left but just for now,
And I still love her as much anyhow.

Sleep my Angel and soon we'll meet,
In my mind your smiles still sweet,
Until we meet when my chores here end,
Please my Angel help my heart to mend.

All my life you were by my side,
You made me open my eyes wide,
And now I live but remember your love,
Please dear Angel watch over me from above.
